Peter Northrup
President
After college, Pete started as a Commercial Underwriting Assistant with Safeco Insurance company in Seattle, Washington. Five years later, he began working with his brother-in-law at a Portland agency before moving on to Johnson & Higgins – at the time, the world’s oldest and largest private broker. In 1993, after eight years with J&H, Pete decided to start his own agency, which engaged three commercial accounts in its first year. Today, Northrup Corporation has over 350 commercial clients in addition to personal and executive risk accounts.
Pete enjoys alpine skiing and sharpening his paddle surfing skills. He and his wife Cassie have been married 31 years, and they have two daughters – one in San Francisco with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the other at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Pete’s motto is, “It is better to wear out than to rust.”
